Sara, Mike & Noah, We have vacationed in Duck many times, but this was our first stay at Bella Sound, and it did not disappoint. You have thought of everything. (Thank you for the coffee). We loved the decks. We enjoyed coffee in the morning on the front porch and relaxing and watching the geese hang out on the sound on the back deck. We saw an eagle one afternoon. Bella Sound has the perfect name. We saw beautiful sunsets on the sound every evening (and have lots of photos to share with our friends and family). One evening, while watching the sunset, we heard bagpipes in the distance. It was a unique experience. We also enjoyed walks to the ocean and shopping in Duck. Dear Sara & Mike, Love, love, love Bella Sound! We have been coming to Duck for 18 years but always with a big group in July or August. What a treat to come in the spring and just the two of us. We are celebrating our 38th anniversary and could not have picked a better spot. It has been a very breezy week and we enjoyed reading and relaxing on the screened in porch. Loved walking on the Duck boardwalk every day, coffee and browsing at Duck's Cottage, day trips to Corolla and Manteo, delicious dinners at Kill Devil Grill, NC Coast, Red Sky Cafe and cooking in your beautiful kitchen. We made sure to be back in time for the glorious sunsets. The osprey have been busy feeding their chicks and swooping majestically overhead. After 6 years of visiting OBX as a family, this was our first time staying in Duck. Why didn't we do this sooner?!? We had a fantastic time this week - spectacular, really! Sound views never get old, pool time fun, every room has a view, treetop oasis, always napping in the hammock, cooking meals together, under the tree relaxing, love the kayaking, a surfing lesson rocks, right at home feeling. We took day trips to Corolla and have postcard pictures from the lighthouses, shopped the boardwalk, and savored our seafood boils. Even the rain couldn't dampen our fun. We spent the last week at Bella Sound as our first post-Covid vacation. Your beautiful home has been an awesome retreat for our family. The kitchen is amazing and had everything we needed to cook our meals. We only ate out once because we enjoy cooking as a family and your large kitchen allowed us to work together as a well oiled team! My favorite time was when we had our coffee on the screened in porch. We had a few rainy days but were delighted to sit around the large kitchen table and play many hands of 500, Dominos, Gin, Exploding Kittens and Heros. The kids used the kayaks one day and we used all the chairs at the beach. Thank you for giving us the pleasure of sharing your home. Dear Buffingtons, We have spent the past week here at Bella Sound and it is such a beautiful place! This is our first trip to the Outer Banks area and it's been one of our favorite places to have visited. We are so happy to be back at Bella Sound. The trip was something we have been looking forward to for so long. Missing out last year because of the pandemic made us treasure every minute this year. Bella Sound is our absolute favorite! We are so thankful to have been able to spend a full week here. The bike rides, corn hole, fun in the sound, kayaks...not to mention the amazing sunsets with cocktails. :) It is very relaxing here and we appreciate all you do to make your guests feel comfortable. This trip got cancelled for us last year when Covid started - so we felt like we've waited an extra long time for this vacation! It has been a much needed time away for just the five of us. Our 3rd trip to Bella Sound is coming to a close, and we are booking the same week for 2021! This has become like a second home - even the wifi knows us. We used the kayaks a couple of times and the weather and sunsets were amazing. Love the OBX in October. We all agree your beds are the most comfortable. Hence a 2 1/2 hour nap! A week long stay which included celebrating our ten year old daughter's birthday. Never bored, there was always something to see or do. Biking, kayaking, hanging at the beach, jumping in the hot tub, or reading in the hammock. Seating with views all over. We had 9 people and it did not seem crowded. Where do I even begin?! This home makes you feel so welcome the moment you walk in! We were not prepared for how amazing our trip/stay was going to be. Coming from PA and staying here was the best decision we made. We enjoyed all of the wildlife we saw including deer, raccoons, anole lizards, herons, geese, crabs and the osprey. The little tree frogs at night are so adorable and my kiddos enjoyed seeing how many we could find. The sound was great! The kids got to play in the sand and sun while the adults kayaked. We have been here since the 8th and so far our favorite places to eat have got to be Steamers, and if you want great delivery Southern Shores Pizza was great! There were so many fun things to do in the area, between sightseeing at the lighthouses or the Wright Brothers monument, to collecting shells down on the 4x4 beaches. Even though we only have a few days left in our stay, we can't wait to come back. Highlights have got to be all the pictures we took; the sunsets are truly amazing. Thank you very much for a wonderful week! The next door neighbor's caretaker was very helpful in describing the history of the area and ways we could best enjoy our vacation. My girls loved the shoreline and playing with the kayaks. We enjoyed crabbing and the beautiful sunsets we experienced, as well as night-gazing after the children went to bed. Biking into town was fun, as was the ice cream at Wezzy's Ice Cream Shop. Dinner at the Blue Point was delicious as well. The boys enjoyed fishing in the ocean, as did the girls. Dear Sara, Mike & Noah, We so very much enjoyed our week long stay at Bella Sound, your beautifully appointed home in Duck. The view over that enormous body of water is magnificent. We had many wildlife sightings while relaxing on the deck. There were deer, a raccoon, an Eastern Bluebird, butterflies, many dragonflies, two Snowy egrets, the lone swan, and an osprey family. On our last day, the baby osprey started to poke his head out of the nest. We also had some dramatic weather events and soothing breezes off the sound. Awesome! We made good use of the bikes and kayaks, and it was a joy to cook
in your kitchen. Loved the grill! You have done a fabulous job with this house. We leave with wonderful memories of North Carolina beach time and some good ideas for improvements in our own homes. Dear Mike, Sara & Noah,
Seeing the house online doesn't even compare to when we walked in. Tim and I visited every single room together and took it all in. Your house is beautiful! The decor is so pretty; we noticed the seahorses, all the pictures, and especially your son! Love the beach themed books in the bunk room! My oldest son Colton loved being in his own room upstairs with the amazing view! My younger two liked the bunk room and the red cushion chairs to sit on to watch TV. We loved the kayaks and the hot tub - boys loved the hot tub with the view - perfect! Of course getting to the beach was easy and we made special memories with the ocean! When it rained this week, they took advantage of the board games and card games. We visited shops and ate at new restaurants in Duck. Our family has been vacationing in the OBX - this is our fifth year, and our second time in Duck. We actually spent two weeks here this year, celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. We typically plan an August family vacation and decided to spend another week with our boys included after we saw your house! Our first week was in Corolla and it was just to easy to move our stuff to Duck to enjoy another week of our favorite happy place - OBX! Our first night here was an amazing sunset; didn't have too many after since it rained a lot...not sure if Harvey had anything to do with it, but we still had a great time! My boys love it here and have already said they want to come back! The kitchen had everything! I always bring most items such as dish soap, sponges and cleaning stuff - but you had it all! Thank you so much for going above and beyond! Even a first-aid kit and aloe vera, which all came in handy - my oldest is a red head like me and needed it for sure! Oh, and the boys climbed in the whirlpool tub - so many bubbles with the jets! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home! It's very cozy and so relaxing - just what we needed with our day to day busy lives. Tomorrow we leave and are headed back up north to Rochester, New York! Our boys start school on Wednesday, and we look forward to the fall season! Fall baseball, hockey and football will again take over our lives. So until next year - may God bless you all! (Sunday, written by the kids): We arrived at Bella Sound to a wonderful spaghetti dinner. The rooms were comfy and the view is great. I love waking up to the beautiful views! I love Bella Sound! I slept great - I was so comfy! Thank you for having such a beautiful house! Thank you! We love your house!
(Monday): Today we all awoke in the gorgeous rooms. The family went to the beach, we went on a kayaking trip. After all the water activity, we had hamburgers and hot dogs. Thank you for another beautiful day!
(Tuesday): Today we woke up and went to the OBX water park and we went on lots of slides! Then we enjoyed the rest of the day at Bella Sound relaxing and eating! We always enjoy staying here.
(Saturday): Another great visit at Bella - enjoyed visit with cousin from AZ and grandchildren. Kyle and Ava (both 11 yo) said it all!

Absolutely wonderful! This is our first visit to NC and the Outer Banks, and we have had lots of fun and the best family holiday making so many special memories at Bella Sound, Duck! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home, where we all felt so relaxed and had everything we needed. We could not have had it any better. We celebrated birthdays and special family moments with laughter and even some Scottish dancing; if your walls could talk! We had an amazing week here at Bella Sound! The weather was perfect and the town of Duck was a great getaway from our crazy busy lifestyles. Our family had a great Thanksgiving at Bella Sound! The weather was very nice and made for fun times at the sound. Highlights of our trip included gorgeous sunsets, great times on the deck and in the hot tub and lots of fun holiday drinks. While we were here, we ate (at) Cosmo's Pizza, Stack em' High, Bob's Grille, Mako Mike's, Lone Cedar, Duck Deli, and Roadside Cafe. We went to N.C. Mike, Sara & Noah, Where to start?!! After weathering Hurricane Matthew for days, detouring thru road closings, and snorkeling thru high water, we arrived on Tuesday afternoon! Joy, Joy, Joy: We're back at Bella Sound again for another week! We had hoped that our stay this year would be at least two weeks, but unfortunately, we couldn't stay this year for two weeks. Perhaps next year we'll be blessed to stay longer.

This is such a cozy house; warm, with a wonderful atmosphere. Again, we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the bay, the beach, hot tub, the screened in porch, sunrises, sunsets, but not (for me) the jet ski?! Of course, the family enjoyed the swimming pool. Beautiful, friendly faces abound on the Outer Banks. The weather was lovely, except for two very hot days (spent at the pool and the beach). Evenings were spent watching movies, playing games, and just enjoying talking to each other. We don't get that chance much in North Jersey. Life seems so busy and hectic when we are home. I pray God bless you, your family and your precious home. As we leave tomorrow morning, we will leave with many fond memories and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Thank you for opening your gorgeous home to our families! The space is perfect for our young children and we loved the kayaks, hot tub, and private beach. Our kids even enjoyed the pool! What a joyous week we spent in your lovely spacious home. These days were a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of life in the Northern New Jersey area. The view of the bay, the landscapes and the sunsets were magnificent. I, the grandmother enjoyed the few thunderstorms we had and we all just snuggled together under our blankets and had "family time" (telling stories). We've vacationed many times here on the Outer Banks, always on the ocean side, but I must say this was the best! I will be on the bay side from now on and I hope that we will be able to vacation here at "Bella Sound" (perfect name) next year also.

The location is perfect: You can walk, cycle, jog, or ride (if you prefer) to the beach, pool, tennis courts, and have access to the many bike trails. Early morning walks were a ritual for the adults and children (except me - a bad knee). They would come back exuberant, ready for breakfast.
The kitchen was well organized and stocked with all utensils we needed. Things were neatly labeled.

You have a splendid array of books, DVD's, puzzles, and games. We took advantage of all.

Uzabel, my sixteen year old grand-daughter claimed the hammock! How delightful it was to swing, relax, read, and drift off to sleep with that cool breeze caressing your face.

My son, Jose, wife, Janice, sons Thomas 12 years and Alex 9 years were never bored. Thomas & Alex like technology, board games, swimming, cycling, and baseball. Uzabel likes to read, hot tub with her Mom, swim in pool and ocean (little leary now with the shark sightings), puzzles and board games and playing with her younger cousins.

I'm a reader and so is Teresa, Janice, Jose, Usabel and Darlene. Thomas and Alex have to be encouraged. I think Teresa's favorite spot was our little beach at the bay. She didn't like sharing that area with the geese though. It was hilarious watching her trying to "shoo" the geese away.

Kayaking was enjoyed by all the family except me. I watched! Jose put together a 500 piece puzzle with a little help from us all! (Very little help). We took pictures when he was finished. It took him two days. He was pleased. (I like puzzles too).

Darlene has a love affair with your hot tub! We all enjoyed it though. Actually everything was great. We would like very much to come again next year and stay here at Bella Sound. Prayerfully, I hope we can stay for two weeks next year. I pray that God will bless us so that we can come for two weeks next year.

Today we leave feeling sad to go, but very happy for the family memories we take with us. Bella Sound truly is a special place. Mike, Sara & Noah too, My oh my...where to start! It was a beautiful week of weather here, perfect temps, low to mid 70's, no humidity. Bella Sound is a perfect place for a retreat from life - quiet, peaceful. It was so relaxing! The views are breathtaking! I have loved breaking in our new camera here! Over 600 pictures! Sara, you have thought of everything! We ate most meals here; why leave when you have such a perfect location. I, personally, think this is the best place in Duck! Matt loved this vacation (wasn't sure how he would enjoy such a low key vacation) - his favorite part was fishing from your back yard! My favorite things were kayaking up to the boardwalk, biking, shelling, and just reading a book on deck! Mike, Sara & Noah, Thank you for sharing your home away from home with us. It was a comfort knowing we would be staying somewhere nicely maintained and it didn't disappoint. We had a great week enjoying everything that Bella Sound has to offer. Kate (our two year old) referred to Bella as "The Week" as we told her this was our vacation home for the week. Kate enjoyed the Sound quite a bit. She liked playing in the sand and even asked to wade in the water, which was a huge step for her. We all enjoyed the beautiful view that Bella provides. Grandma specifically loved the view out her bedroom window. The extras that you provide however made the stay special. Things like the childrens' books (Kate loved Little Bird, Biddle Bird), the beach supplies, the hammock, and Grandpa likes the hot tub and kayaks. Thanks for the coffee and the little things like trash bags and supplies like that. While we were here we visited the beach on several occasions, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse (which Kate climbed with Daddy, her 1st), Bodie Island Lighthouse, and lots of great restaurants and shops. Our entire family had such a special time at Bella Sound! Our one year old daughter loved playing in the sand and water down at the sound. My father-in-law enjoyed just relaxing on the deck with his coffee watching the water and the birds. Relaxing in the hot tub watching the sunset was amazing as well!

Bella Sound is such a wonderful home and property with incredible views. Our week here was filled with incredible outdoor experiences. We all took advantage of the bikes, kayaks, hammock and hot tub. The house is well equipped for our family of five adults; everyone enjoyed their own bedroom (very comfortable accommodations).

We really enjoyed the views and the short walk to the ocean beach and the pool after the beach. Lots of wildlife to see; deer, foxes, birds, ducks and the lagoon is special. We even tried crabbing in town.
The town is special and enjoyed walking or riding bikes into town. Enjoyed music at Cravings, a nice dinner at Red Sky Cafe, and Duck Donuts are better than advertised.

Enjoyed a cup of coffee on the deck each morning (nice warm breeze).

"Arthur" couldn't put a damper on our time at Bella. We were very lucky that the hurricane was gentle to the Outer Banks. Coming to Bella is like coming home. Bella Sound was the perfect backdrop for our family vacation. Access to the Sound, the ocean and the pool provided many opportunities for making wonderful family memories. The fully stocked house allowed us to focus on family without having to get into the car. Our family consisted of several small children, a teenage girl, 3 college-age boys and adults - and we all found endless activities to entertain all of us. This was our first visit to the Outer Banks, but it definitely won't be our last! We are so thankful for your hospitality. All of us had an awesome time during our week at Bella Sound! We had great weather all week - started off slightly chilly, but quickly warmed up. This house/ view/ amenities are all spectacular! We all loved the attention to detail as far as supplies that are in this house. I was very glad to not have to pack a high chair and pack n' play for this vacation. :) This was our first trip to the OBX, and we definitely were not disappointed! We all hope to be back next year or the following year.

We saw lots of wildlife during our stay - 4 baby foxes and 2 parent foxes, 7 deer, cats, birds, etc. The baby foxes were very cute and we all walked/rode up the driveway to watch the little guys play each evening. Thanks so much for the chance to stay here! We had a great time.

Had a very relaxing visit @ Bella Sound. We had rain much of the week but kept ourselves entertained visiting the Currituck Lighthouse, drove on the beach for miles only to discover the horses are more inland this time of year in Corolla, visited NC Aquarium and Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island - and shopping! Sara - you really know how to make someone feel welcome in your "home away from home". We enjoyed the wildlife - 2 deer actually were very close to us Friday eve around 7:00 pm. We had been seeing hoof prints on the beach and hoped to see them and we did! You thought of everything - the amenities were all there - including a CD player - Thank You! So I've had a fantastic time at this house. Everything was included, we did not have to leave the house to have fun. We had a jacuzzi, kayaking, bikes, and tennis. I even learned how to ride a bike here. This house is very family friendly. I hope I can come back soon. The house feels like a dream. The view was unreal and beautiful. It was a great experience. (- The Children). Our family's first time to Outer Banks and we did not want to leave. As one of the family (total of two), I want to thank you for such a great place and my daughter (13) learned how to ride a bike. We will never forget the experience and lovely time we had. Too bad that my oldest daughter couldn't come (because of school) but we definitely will be back. Great total experience.... <3 From New Jersey

Our first trip to the Outer Banks was a huge success thanks to Bella Sound! My husband and son kayaked daily, kited on the beach and loved the Sound. All four of us loved the hot tub, the sunsets, the birds and animals. Bella Sound is a beautiful home with everything one might need. We hope to come back in the very near future. We had an amazing 2 weeks at Bella Sound! This was our 1st time coming to the Outer Banks for 2 weeks - what a treat! We may never be able to stay just one again!

Your house is wonderful - beautifully decorated, well-equipped, and so easy and comfortable to be in. As 2 former teachers staying in your house, we so much appreciated your attention to detail and all of the little touches. We loved your notes, your themed books in the children's room, and your helpful guest binder! :) The views and outdoor spaces here are fantastic. It's so quiet and peaceful back here - it's like you're living in your own nature preserve! We saw foxes, raccoons, and so many birds! The decking is perfect too - no splinters with your bare feet! Our 18 month old visitor loved the area under the deck and having her own private beach - she had rocks and sand galore to keep her entertained for hours!

Our first week here was warm and sunny and we hardly left the back porch! We relaxed, read, watched the water, and took in gorgeous sunsets. \We couldn't believe how warm it was, even in October! Our 2nd week was pretty rainy and cloudy, but it gave us the chance to get out and explore and boost the Duck and Corolla economy quite a bit with our shopping excursions! Ha!

We loved walking through the neighborhood, over to the beach, and down to the Duck village. Bella is in such a convenient location - close enough to everything, but far enough to feel like you're in your own private retreat! What a wonderful house! We really enjoyed waking up to the view every morning! The late night hot tub with cool air and bright stars above were amazing! We enjoyed the kayaks and the bikes. We just got home from a wonderful week at Bella Sound. After staying here, I'd never consider staying ocean side. The boys (husband included) spent many hours kayaking and swimming out on the sand bars. The water was also MUCH warmer in the sound. Waves were huge Thursday and Friday at the ocean so if you had younger children they probably wouldn't have been able to be in the water, but the sound was calm and lovely. The house is incredible...beautifully decorated with everything you need! If/when we come back to the OBX we'll certainly stay here again:) - Patty

I don’t know where to start. I’ll never tire of the view of the Sound. Even with the new moon, the Sound reflected that glow beautifully. Everything we needed was here. We kept rearranging our plans so we could spend as much time at Bella Sound as possible. I went to the grocery store more times than I care to admit just to remain here. There is nothing at the Outer Banks that compares to Bella Sound. After Friday’s storm I washed a few windows. Couldn’t help myself; it was messing up the view. There is a surprise for Noah in his room. Lots of love, Mom & Allen

What a wonderful week at “Bella”! We don’t want to leave. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had a wonderful week. Here are our highlights:
Ben - looking out the top of Currituck Lighthouse
Max - riding the waves at the ocean
Jack - hot tub!
Steve - kayaking on the sound
Patty - relaxing and reading books by the water

Things we learned:
- There are 220 stairs to the top of the Currituck Lighthouse
- Traffic stinks when it's not great beach weather
- Duck Pizza is definitely not as good as Chicago pizza
- If you like seafood you to go to/ pick up I've Got Your Crabs
- You can still stand about 1/3 of the way across the sound

We absolutely love your home and would certainly recommend Bella Sound to our friends. - Patty, Steve, May, Jack and Ben

We weren't sure what to expect when booking Bella Sound at the last minute - but feel very lucky that we did! Six adults and 4 children age 5-7 y/o fit nicely in your comfortable home. We've traveled to (the) OBX before - but never stayed Sound-side - but after this week - we most likely will always do so. The kids loved playing on their own "little beach" and kayaking with the adults. It was great on days when no one felt like lugging all the gear to the beach (ocean side). Kitchen well-equipped for cooking. We enjoyed hot tub and community pool. Close enough to walk to Duck but quiet and private. We had a lovely few days - wish it were longer. Biked over to the ocean every morning for a walk on the "big" beach, then spent the rest of each day enjoying our own "little" beach. We loved being in a house that was on the water, yet still felt as if it were in the woods - hope to be back in the Fall! - Ann & Mark

We had a great week at Bella Sound - what a beautiful place! Loved the views and the tranquility. Our daughters had a lot of fun running around and playing on the beach. The weather was mostly sunny and cool with a couple of cloudy days for roadtrips to Roanoke and Cape Hatteras. It was a relaxing break from DC. Hope to be back! - Dan, Eliza, Eve & Sonia
